Embroidery

I picked up embroidery while I was a university student and needed to find a creative outlet. While I enjoy both embroidery and cross-stitching, my specialty has somehow become surprising friends with cross-stitched pieces of funny things they have said.

Both embroidery and cross-stitching are ancient art forms that carry a rich history. I really enjoy infusing a modern twist into these traditions. My favorite aspect of the pieces I create is the element of surprise: observers initially expect something traditional, but upon closer inspection, they discover humorous text or imagery that, hopefully, brings a smile to their faces. I've also experimented with crafting more realistic portraits, such as the one below of a friend (do you think it looks like him?), or the one based on the Bernie inauguration meme that was everywhere in 2020. Of course, that's not to say that I don't endulge in more traditional pieces as well, such as floral tablecloths and the like.
